Triple H will serve as the creative director of the WWE in the wake of Vince McMahon’s recent retirement.
McMahon’s daughter, who is married to Triple H, Stephanie McMahon will also be taking over as the chairwoman and co-CEO with president Nick Khan.
In the 1990s, Triple H started his career in professional wrestling. During the “Attitude Era,” he co-founded D-Generation X, which helped propel him into the public eye. He was one of the best professional wrestlers of all time when he retired, and soon after, he started working behind the scenes at WWE.
Following a Wall Street Journal investigation that claimed he paid women millions of dollars in return for their silence over sexual misbehavior, McMahon announced his resignation on Friday.
He issued a statement saying, “As I near 77 years old, I feel it’s time for me to resign as chairman and CEO of WWE. It has been a honor throughout the years to work with WWE to delight, inspire, excite, surprise, and always amuse you.
